Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and Nutrition

Didactic Program

The Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) offers the necessary academic experience towards becoming a Registered Dietitian. It is designed for individuals who wish to complete their dietetic internship following their attainment of a Bachelor’s of Science in Dietetics and Nutrition. Students must complete an accredited dietetic internship to be eligible to take the Registration Examination for Dietitians. There are a variety of internships throughout the United States, though not many in South Florida. Admission is very competitive; generally good grades and volunteer/work experience are essential.

Coordinated Program

The Coordinated Program (CP) is designed for individuals who wish to graduate with a Bachelor’s of Science in Dietetics and Nutrition degree, be "job ready", and are eligible to take the Registration Examination for Dietitians. The program provides experience in the three broad areas of dietetic practice (food service system management, clinical, and community) and is designed to prepare entry-level dietitians for careers in a variety of health care and food service facilities. It requires a minimum of 1200 full time practice hours, day-time study which includes the necessary supervised practice hours. CP is a limited access program. Only 18 students are admitted each year during their junior year. See the Undergraduate CP application for additional details on admission criteria.  If a student is not admitted on the first application to the program, then students may only apply one additional time
